I’m about to replace my current “buoyancy aid” with Astral Buoyancy’s new BlueJacket. It’s a real beauty! I strongly doubted that I would ever find a better sea kayaking vest than their original Sea Wolf. Well they managed to out do themselves. It’s a step up in functionality and a really beauty in the Glacier color. The BlueJacket has improved hydration hose retainers and external straps for a rear mounted hydration pack (Kokatat’s and others). Yes, one can still carry the bladder internally on the vest, but I never cared for that feature. It lacks ease of access and apparently is only compatible with CamelBak’s Antidote 50 bladder. The BlueJacket also comes standard with VHF specific carry feature.
